• Naqargi type design

Georgian language is one of the oldest languages in the world. The modern Georgian script is based on the round-form cursive, which was developed from the angular book script of the 9th century. The Georgian script is very complex, and beautiful, somewhat difficult to turn it into digital type.

Growing up I’ve been practicing cross stiching style, and always wanted to turn it into type design, especially the Georgian script. For me the cross stitch is an emphasis on feminist design, and the way to connect to women who practiced it before.

One of the first vowel letters “a”, and “i” in Georgian language form the simplest words, and the first sentence that kids learn to read: “ai ia”(this is violet).
